Happy Belated New Years. The past couple of months have been quite a feat... I'm a student at Purdue University Calumet, which is located in Indiana, but i'm a native of Texas. So, when i took a semester off for Fall of '07 i had to travel across country from Indiana to Texas with the help of my poor family, and then travel back to Indiana for the start of Spring '08. I used to live in a boarding house with my own efficiency, but now i'm in a dormatory with a communal kitchen and living room, so i feel a bit out of my element. I have one other room mate who seems to have been by herself for awhile, so i'm trying to stay out of the way as much as possible until we can adjust to one another. We still haven't even set up house rules for who gets what part of the kitchen... Her food and personal items dominate much of the kitchen, so i feel like i'm taking over if i ask for shelf space. Necessity will eventually give my timid nature the boot (i hope)...
Another issue is that i still haven't gone back to work... Something i want to rectify immediately. Money = food/shelter. I'm meeting with my Indiana boss today, so hopefully i'll be back in action by the end of the week.
Long story short, all of this upheaval in my life translates to a lack of effort in site updates. I have been working on various site related projects, but nothing that's going to be worth uploading for at least another month. My apologies for the delay (even though i don't really have any visitors...). I'll at least get to uploading more artwork to the Gallery section within the next month.
--------------------I finally got around to subscribing to deviantART, and creating the CSS for my journal there inspired me to finally get around to creating graphics for this site. The motif for the journal matches this site: blues, yellows, and greens, dots and rounded boxes, etc. I found the above font at dafonts, a rich resource for typographers and designers in general. Most of their fonts are free to use, as long as you give credit. The font used is called "Tobin Tax." I'll get around to adding buttons and the extremely neglected image maps sometime tonight or tomorrow. That's about it for now in the way of updates...
--------------------Referring to the to-do list in the previous update, i'm making decent progress. I just uploaded all of the gallery images that are ready at the moment, and i'm working on display pages for each image. I finished a few other miscellaneous to-do items, so please refer to the prior update to see which tasks are completed.
In other news, i'm going to begin tweaking the design for WuFalcon pretty soon, probably within the next month. The current design is clunky and dark, so i'm going to try and reinvision the whole thing from the ground up. I've asked my friend Akuti, a fellow member of the group and a talented artist, to give me feedback and ideas, so hopefully that will spur me out of my design slump...
For those who have no idea what i'm talking about, WuFalcon is a group of friends that play the online game "Final Fantasy XI," and this group is what's known in-game as a "linkshell." We've been around for a long while, since 2003 or so. We have a lot of seasoned members, but our schedules and affilations are scattered these days. We're all still friends and keep in touch whenever possible, so the WuFalcon site is a tribute to all of our friends and members, past and present. We hope to become an active force in Final Fantasy XI once again in the near future, however.
More minor updates, but at least i'm making progress... I've created a basic entrance image, but i'm going to have to paint it over again. Just not happy with how it turned out... I was going for something far more minimalist. Here's my current to-do list:
As usual, all of my personal projects have been delayed due to personal issues. I'm just getting over a case of what appears to be mild Pneumonia, but i'm off of work this week, so hopefully i'll be able to get a significant amount of work done... Here's the basic to-do list:
After testing different resolutions, i adjusted the temporary entrance page so the link is visible. It seems anything below 1024x768 is clunky. I'll make another design for low resultion sites in the near future...
--------------------Mostly just made some adjustments to the top navigation bar, added color to the scroll bar, and corrected some minor coding mistakes. All i need to do at this point is create graphics...
